In 2007, a group of farmers, with guidance from the WVU
Extension Service and the Davis
College of Agriculture, Forestry and Consumer Sciences, with a West
Virginia Department of Agricuture grant, took steps to create a statewide
farmers market association--the West Virginia Farmers Market Association (WVFMA).
The goal of the association is to strengthen viability of farmers markets
across the state. Cooperation will be fostered among members in solving problems
related to the production and marketing of farm products and improvement in
marketing activities.
